A great little cafe in the heart of Barnard Castle
Our Food
Clarendon’s Head Chef Kirsty is committed to providing excellent cuisine. Her passion for food is reflected in her food and presentation. Kirsty cakes and desserts are often complemented. Her carrot cake has been described as the best in the north East if not the country on more than one occasion. When she isn’t working Kirsty enjoys watching cookery programmes, always looking for tips and ideas.
Our produce is sourced locally and our suppliers include Peats Butchers and Bakery, Hodgeson’s Fisheries, Elliot’s Eggs and Quality food Services. Clarendon’s has been awarded Local produce champions by Visit Durham for the last four years. An accolade that we are very proud of. Clare’s husband and family are local farmers, so she is committed to using British and locally sourced where possible, helping support the local and farming community.
Our Cafe
Clarendon’s is situated in the main high street, housed in one of the oldest building in Barnard Castle, dating back to the 16th Century. The café extends over 2 floors, offering areas for private dining and group bookings.
Clarendon’s offers a certain charm, exposed brick work, old fireplaces and stone stairs. Although alterations have been made to the property over the years the changes are in keeping with the buildings character to maintain a homely feel in our oldy worldly building.
